Agri Ministry warns about ‘Sonar Bangla’ project

The Ministry of Agriculture issued a warning notice saying that there is no project called Sonar Bangla Project. The cautionary notice on Thursday came after detecting an unidentified private company issued a recruitment notice mentioning the name of the agriculture ministry.

The recruitment notice recently published on the https://sites.google.com/view/sonarbanglap2022 webpage, where they used Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's picture and the ‘slogan’ of the ministry.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been involved in the project with the aim of making agriculture self-sufficient in Sonar Bangla. Under the 'Sonar Bangla' project of the General Agricultural Development Organization, it will provide seeds, fertilizers free of cost to farmers across the country. For this, work force will be appointed for each union as contractual basis. Initially, the duration of the project is 10 years,” according to the recruitment notice. 

The agriculture ministry says that there is no such project. No officer or employee of the Ministry of Agriculture and its departments or agencies will be held liable if any person or organization is deceived by financial transactions due to this recruitment notification.

It is unethical and illegal to mention the name of the Ministry of Agriculture in the recruitment notice of an unknown private organization called 'Sonar Bangla Project' and to use the slogan 'Agriculture is Prosperity' of the Ministry of Agriculture at the recruitment notice.

The recruitment circular mentions the appointment of one monitoring officer in each of the 64 districts, whose salary has been fixed at Tk 28,500.

It has been mentioned that 495 trainers have also been recruited with a salary of Tk 24,500 each. Besides, 4,571 posts of field assistants will be filled, each getting a salary of taka 22,500. Interested candidates have been asked to apply by July 10.
