Addicted Jhenidah youth kills mother, grandmother

A drug addict and mentally imbalanced youth named Imran Hossain, 25, had chopped his mother and grandmother to death at Naodagram village under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidaha in the early hours on Friday. 

The deceased were identified as Shamsun Nahar, 70, wife of Noor Mohammad of the area, and her daughter Marzina Khatun, 42. The accused is son of Marzina Khatun.

Rashedul Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Moheshpur police station, confirmed the matter. 

The OC said that Imarn wanted money from his mother to buy drug. When she (Marzina) refused to give money, Imran started altercation with his mother.

 At one stage of the altercation, she stabbed his mother and grandmother indiscriminately, leaving them injured seriously. 

The duo were sent to Jashore General Hospital where the on duty doctors declared them dead.

Imran left the house immediately after the incident. Later, the police arrested him. Police were preparing to register case in this connection, said the OC. 

Police said that Marzina Khatun was serving as a teacher of technical department at Moheshpur Government Girl’s School. She had been living with her mother Shamsun Nahar and son Imran Hossain. 

As Imran had been suffering from mental complications for the long, he was under treatment at the mental hospital in Pabna. 

He was also drug addicted and used to demand money to his mother for drug.
