Biman Bangladesh Airlines sixth brand new Dreamliner Boeing 787-9, named as ‘Achin Pakhi’, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday evening. The aircraft landed at the airport at around 8.00 pm from Seattle, the USA, Biman’s officials said. Earlier, on Saturday, another Boeing 787-9, named as ‘Sonar Tori’, arrived at Dhaka.

The Achin Pakhi left Seattle airport on Monday. After nonstop 15.30 hours flying, the aircraft landed at the country’s main airport. With these two aircrafts, the national flag carrier’s fleet number will raise to 18. The Biman authority is considering to operate these two latest Dreamliners on Dhaka-Manchester route, besides Dhaka-London route.

Biman officials said we are considering to increase the number of international destinations as we have more aircrafts at hand now. Managing Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Mokabbir Hossain told Bangladesh Post that three new flights will start operation from January 1 on Dhaka-Manchester route. "Immediately after introducing flights to Manchester, we have plans to expand Biman's wing to Toronto via Manchester or Rome.”

“And finally, the much-awaited Dhaka-New York flight will gradually be introduced,” he added. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who named these Dreamliners as ‘Sonar Tori’ and ‘Achin Pakhi’, is expected to inaugurate the new aircraft along with Biman’s mobile Apps on December 28. Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has total 298 seats including 30 business classes, 21 premium economy classes and 247 economy classes.
