ACC’s Bachir to face action: Kamal

Home Minister, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, on Friday said steps would be taken against Anti-Corruption Commission Director Enamul Bachir, for bribery. He made the remarks to journalists after attending a prize awarding ceremony at a sports competition in Abhani Club in the city’s Dhanmondi area. The home boss said, “We all are obedient to the country’s law. The countrymen want to see the rule of law. The government is working towards this goal.”

He said, “Investigation against ACC official Bachir is ongoing. Action will be taken against him on completion of the investigation.” Such action as taken against DIG Mizan would also be taken against Bachir. After investigation, DIG Mizan was brought to book, he recalled. DIG Mizanur Rahman allegedly gave Bachir a bribe of Tk 40 lakh during an investigation. After the matter was leaked to the media, Enamul Bachir was temporarily suspended. In this context, ACC summoned two people.

About the extra-judicial killings, the home minister said, “None of us do support extra-judicial killings. But what happened in the case of Nayon Bond was only in self-defense.” Responding about the alleged mastermind of Nayon Bond, he said, “Investigation in this regard is also going on. We want to find out who had given him shelter.” Nayon Bond, the prime accused in the daylight killing of Reifat Sharif in front of his wife in Barguna town was killed in an alleged gunfight with the police.
