Abul Hossain appointed VC of Gono Bishwabidyalay

Md Abul Hossain has been appointed the new vice-chancellor of Gono Bishwabidyalay on Tuesday.

He has been appointed as per an order of the president and the university’s chancellor Abdul Hamid, said a press release issued by the university on the day.

The education ministry also issued a circular in this regard on the same day.

The circular said that following the Private University Act 2010’s Section 31 [1], professor Md Abul Hossain has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of the Gono Bishwabidyalay.

His tenure as the vice-chancellor will be for four years from the joining date.

Earlier, he had been appointed as pro-vice-chancellor of Gono Bishwabidyalay on December 13, 2021 and was working as acting vice-chancellor of the university since February 1, 2022.

Md Abul Hossain, also a renowned physicist, worked as the pro-vice-chancellor of the Jahangirnagar University between 2014 and 2018.

He had started his career as a teacher in 1982 joining the physics department of JU and later fulfilled responsibilities as different positions including department chair, dean, and syndicate member.

He had secured his PhD degree from the Aligarh Muslim University and had research articles published in different local and foreign journals.

Md Abul Hossain was also president of the Jahangirnagar University Teacher’s Association.
