A Dhaka court on Tuesday sent BUET student Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan to jail as police produced him before the court after end of his five-day remand in a case lodged over murder of his roommate Abrar Fahad, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order as Investigation Officer (IO) and Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Wahiduzzaman produced the accused before court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah on October 23 placed Mizan on five-day remand in the case. Mizan, a student of Department of Water Resources Engineering, was also roommate of the deceased. He was arrested from Room-1011 of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on October 10 and was sent to jail the next day.

BUET students and the university authorities found seemingly lifeless body of Abrar, 22, on the first-floor stairs of Sher-e-Bangla Hall and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 6.30 am. Abrar’s father filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19 students of the university.
