Abducted child found dead in Savar

Police recovered a body of a child aged around 09 years old, who was allegedly strangled to death by abductors at Tongabari area of Ashulia in Savar on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Raza Madbar, 09, son of Kalam Madbar, hailed from the Tongabari area of Ashulia in Savar.

Police later sent the body to Shahid Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and detained a woman in connection with the murder as well. Al Amin, Sub-Inspector of Ashulia police station confirmed the matter.

The detainee was identified as Liza, 19, wife of Ariful Islam, hailed from Pabna district.

Quoting the deceased’s family, Al Amin said that the accused couple, Ariful Islam and Liza, rented a flat of the building, owned by Kamal Madbar, a month ago, introducing themselves as husband and wife. Ariful allegedly abducted the child on Sunday afternoon and demanded taka 50 lakhs from the deceased's family as ransom over phone. 

Later, locals and deceased's family detained Liza around 10:00pm on the night and recovered the body from their flat corridor, though Ariful managed to flee the scene by that time.

“Later, on information, police personnel rushed to the spot and sent the body to Shahid Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. We also detained Liza. Moreover, we are trying to arrest the other culprit as soon as possible”, SI Al Amin said.

A case has been filed with Ashulia police station in this connection.
