Eight more fresh Covid-19 cases were diagnosed after testing 67 new samples with the positivity rate of 11.94 percent in the division on Monday.
Health officials said new Covid-19 cases were reported everyday since last June 22 signaling another probable wave of infections in the division. The eight new Covid-19 infected patients include four from Rangpur, two from Nilphamari and one each from Thakurgaon and Dinajpur districts.
"With the diagnosis of the eight fresh cases, the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 64,174 in the division," Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam told BSS today. The total number of recovered Covid-19 patients remained steady at 62,785 as no more patients healed during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today.

Meanwhile, more 14,425 doses of Covid-19 jabs were administered on Monday raising the number of inoculated vaccines to two crore 98 lakh 57 thousand and 940 doses in the
Among the 14,425 doses of the jabs inoculated on Monday, 388 were administered as the first doses, 2,091 as the second doses and 11,946 as the booster doses.
"Till Monday, a total of 1,35,59,760 people got the first doses of Covid-19 jabs, and of them, 1,30,07,264 got the second doses and 32,90,916 got the booster doses," Dr. Islam added.
He urged people to abide by the health directives and wear masks for remaining safe as another probable wave of Covid-19 infection is apparently knocking doors in the division and the country as a whole.
