71 Bangladeshis stranded after a horrific explosion in the Lebanese capital Beirut have been brought back to the country by a Bangladesh Air Force plane. The plane was carrying government relief aid to the victims of the blast in the country.

They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 7:15 am on Wednesday (August 12). Nur Islam, assistant director of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the matter.

He said the air force plane landed at the international airport with 71 Bangladeshis at 7:15 am. An Air Force C-130J aircraft flew to Lebanon with the help of the Bangladesh government to help the victims of the horrific blast in Beirut. On August 10, the plane left Dhaka for Lebanon.

A powerful explosion rocked the Lebanese capital, Beirut, at noon on August 4. The blast shook the city like an earthquake. Four Bangladeshis were killed. About 100 Bangladeshis, including 21 members of the Bangladesh Navy, were injured. Besides, the ship ‘Bijoy’ of the Bangladesh Navy stationed in that country was damaged in that incident.

The Bangladesh government has extended a helping hand to Lebanon, which was hit by the blast, with medical supplies and emergency food aid and spare parts.
