7 AIDS patients detected in Jashore

A total of seven HIV positive patients were found in Jashore last year. The exact figure could be higher than that. Dr Md Harun-or- Rashid, acting civil surgeon, Jashore, came up with the information at a meeting in Jashore on Tuesday.

Dr AFM Matiur Rahman, executive director of FPAB, presided over the meeting, while it was, attended, among others, by Hussain Shaukat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-general), Saraban Tahura Zaman of FPAB, Jahid Hasan Tukun, President of Jashore Press Club, Dr Alok Kumar Sarker, senior consultant of Jashore General Hospital, and Abidur Rahman, programme officer of  Jashore.

Family Planning Association of Bangladesh arranged the meeting entitled Consultation Meeting with multi stakeholders on adolescent friendly services.

Dr Md Harun-or- Rashid, in the meeting said the national AIDS committee in Jashore could not be able to hold a single meeting in a year and the services of youth centres in Jashore hospitals are very poor.
