Police in Jashore has seized 671 sackful of government rice from a wholesale rice shop at Khajura Bazaar under Bagharpara upazila of Jashore on Tuesday night. Police also arrested the owner of the rice shop and the driver of the covered van on which the rice was carried to the shop.
Tania Afroz, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Bagharpara informed, around 10-00 pm on Tuesday the government rice was seized from the shop of a trader named Delowar Hossain. Case will be filed with the concerned police station in this connection, she said.
JasimUddin, Officer in charge of Bagharpara Police station informed, acting a tip off, police conducted an operation at the wholesale rice trader Delowar Hossain's shop and saw sackful of government rice was being unloaded from a covered van there. The sack contained seals of the Department of Food and written " Sheikh Hasinar Bangladesh, Khudha hobe Niruddesh'' on the sacks.Police seized the covered van and the sackful rice and arrested Delowar Hossain and driver Masud from the spot.
