51 AIDS patients detected in Khulna last year

At least 51 AIDS patients have been detected in Khulna division after examining 648 HIV positive patients in last one year since November 2018 experiencing the slight fall in the number of HIV patients, reports BSS. 

A total of 39 AIDS patients were detected in 2017 and 67 AIDS patients were detected till October, 2018 while the number of the patients has declined to 51 till October, 2019.

Acting Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr Atiar Rahman Sheikh disclosed this at a discussion meeting held in observance of the World Aids Day.

Khulna Civil Surgeon Office organised the meeting at the conference room of School Health Clinic with acting CS Dr Atiar Rahman in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ziaur Rahman addressed it as chief guest while Program Officer of HIV/AIDS Abdul Baten delivered a power point presentation .

The chief guest underscored the need for creating massive awareness among the community leaders about the curse of the disease and contribute their mites toward preventing HIV AIDS.

Participating in the discussion other stakeholders including doctors and NGO officials stressed the need for following religious and moral values strictly for preventive measure to roll back the deadly disease.

Earlier, a colurful procession was brought out in the city.
