Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia today said 5-tier security has been arranged for the prayer of Eid-ul-Azha, at Jatiya Eidgah and Baitul Mukarram, scheduled to be held on August 12, reports BSS.
“Police personnel both in uniform and plain clothes, members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and bomb disposal units will remain deployed during the Eid jamaats at the spot,” the DMP Commissioner told journalists after inspecting security conditions of Jatiya Eidgah this afternoon.
Asaduzzman Mia also said, “The entire area of Jatiya Eidgah, inside and outside, will be monitored by closed-circuit (CC) cameras. DMP control room will control cameras continuously.” Watch-tower will be set up to monitor the entire area where the Eid congregations will be held. In addition, Archways and metal detectors will be installed at the main gate, he added. Devotees are only allowed to bring Janamaz (prayer rug), but if necessity arises umbrellas could be allowed at the main jamaat.
