5 new gantry cranes to speed up Ctg port container handling

Two new Quay Side Gantry Cranes (QGC) and three Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes have been added to the fleet of major seaports of the country to handle containers quickly and safely.  The Chattogram Port Authority thinks that this will speed up the container handling.  Three more Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) and two Gantry Cranes (QGC) will be added soon.  6 Gantry Cranes (QGC) have been added to the fleet at Chattogram port.

 Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Md Omar Faruq confirmed the information on Saturday.

 According to Chattogram port sources, the new Quay Side Gantry Cranes made from China will be installed in NCT-5 berths of two ports.  At present the port has 4 QGC operations in CCT and 10 in NCT.  Two new Gantry Cranes (QGC) have been added to the port fleet and three new Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes will be added to the operation of the port's refer yard.

 Saif Powertec Captain Tanvir, terminal operator in-charge of NCT and CCT of Chattogram port, said that at present there are 4 QGC operations in CCT and 10 in NCT of the port.  2 new QGC will be installed in NCT-5 berths.  There are 39 RTG.  3 new RTG are likely to be added to the Referee Yard operation.  The port operations will be safe and dynamic with these container handling equipment’s.

 Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Md Omar Faruq said two new Quay Side Gantry Cranes (QGC) and three Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes made in China have arrived at Chattogram Port.  It will be possible to handle containers faster and safer from now on.  The cranes will go into operation as soon as possible after unloading, fitting and trial.  The next three are Rubber Tyred gantry (RTG) cranes and two Gantry Cranes (QGC).
