5 bridges become risky in Nabinagar-Companiganj road

Drivers, passengers and pedestrians are suffering as five damaged bridges are lying without repair in Nabinagar-Companiganj road, which connected to Dhaka-Chattogram route.

The bridges are Aliabad Bridge, Bholachang Bridge, Bholachaung Garh Canal Bridge, Kariwbari Bridge and Jhinodpur Bridge. Of these, accidents can happen at any moment as various wholes occurred into multiple locations of the Bholachang Bazaar Bridge.

Locals repeatedly demand to repair bridges as early as possible. Upazila administration said that a renovation initiative would be taken on coordination meetings.

However, numerous buses, trucks, pickups, private carriers, microbus, CNG and auto rickshaw vehicles ply on Nabinagar-Companiganj road.

As five bridges were damaged, people are traveling on alternate roads along Bailey Bridge. If the bridges do not repair soon accidents can be happened any time.

In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Masum said, necessary steps would be taken to ease the misery.

Upazila Chairman Moniruzzaman Monir said, 'I have already spoken to the Honorable Member of Parliament Ebadul Karim Bulbul. The MP has directed the Engineer to provide detailed information on the bridges, and effective measures will be taken soon.'
