5,000 farmers to get incentive for Aman cultivation in Pirojpur

A total of 5,000 small and marginal farmers in seven upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agro incentive for the cultivation of Aman paddy under the incentive and rehabilitation program in the current season.

To boost the farmers' interest in Aman paddy cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the current financial year 2022-23 in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Dr Mohammad Nazrul Islam Sikder said.

He said that five kgs of high yielding Aman seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer will be given free of cost among the 5000 farmers for cultivating Aman paddy.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has allocated Taka 33,87,500 for this purpose.

Among them, 700 farmers in Sadar Upazila, 600 in Indurkani Upazila, 500 in Kaukhali Upazila, 700 in Nesarabad Upazila, 650 in Nazirpur Upazila, 800 in Bhandaria Upazila and 1050 in Mathbaria Upazila will get seeds and fertilizers each farmer free of cost.

The distribution of the seeds and fertilizers will start very soon from the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, Mohammad Nazrul Islam Sikder said.

He said that getting fertilizers and seeds from the government, the farmers will be encouraged to cultivate Aman. As a result, Aman cultivation and rice production will be possible on more land.
