Some 45 insolvent athletes of Narsingdi district were given financial assistance on the occasion of Sheikh Kamal 71st birth anniversary, the eldest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports BSS.
Deputy Commissioner Syeda Farhana Kawnine distributed Taka 3.15 lakh among the athletes at a simple function at her office conference room on Wednesday evening.
A discussion meeting was also held highlighting the life and works of Sheikh Kamal and a doa and munajat was offered seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Sheikh Kamal.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Kamol Goash, General secretary of District Sports Association Sheenul Islam Bhuiyan and Vice-president of the committee Mostafa Miah, among others, were present.
