44.26pc Covid-19 positivity recorded in Rangpur division

Rangpur division recorded 44.26 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 162 fresh cases were reported after testing 366 newly collected samples at the two Covid-19 laboratories on Saturday.  

“The Covid-19 positivity rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks in the division,” said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui.

Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 25.27 percent on Friday, 38.40 percent on Thursday, 23.27 percent on Wednesday, 24.74 percent on Tuesday, 24.17 percent on Monday and 26.75 percent on Sunday last in Rangpur division.  

Among the 162 new patients, 93 were reported positive after diagnosing 178 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the daily positivity rate of 52.25 percent on Saturday.

“The 93 new patients include 46 from Rangpur, 15 from Kurigram and 16 each from Lalmonirhat and Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM NurunnobiLyzusaid.

On the other hand, 69 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 36.70 percent today.

“The 69 new Covid-19 infected patients include 42 from Dinajpur, 11 from Thakurgaon and 12 from Nilphamari and four from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed NazirHossain.

Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu MdZakirul Islam said that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 39,308 as 162 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.  

“The district-wise break up of 39,308 infected patients stands at 8,623 in Rangpur, 2,173 in Panchagarh, 3,048 in Nilphamari, 2,064 in Lalmonirhat, 2,884 in Kurigram, 5,450 in Thakurgaon, 11,745 in Dinajpur and 3,321 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
