41 Covid deaths in 24 hours, lowest in 38 days

Bangladesh registered 41 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday taking the death toll to 11,796.

This is the lowest number of deaths recorded in the span of a day since March 28 when 35 people died of coronavirus. Since then the number of daily fatalities continued to rise.

The death rate now stands at 1.53 percent in the country, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday. 

The country recorded 1,822 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,69,160, added the release. The current positivity rate stands at 8.44 percent. 

The total positivity rate stands at 13.78 percent.

Among the 41 deceased, 22 were men, and 19 were women. Of the victims, 40 died in different hospitals across the country while one died at home. 

Moreover, 20 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka Division, 14 from Chattogram, two each from Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet, and one from Khulna division. 

A total of 21,585 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday. 

At least 3,698 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,02,163 and the recovery rate at 91.29 percent.

As of Thursday, 3,257,615 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 155,887,827 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
