Four alleged members of the Sundarban-based robber gang were killed in a “gunfight” with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Koyra upazila of Khulna on Tuesday.
The dead include Aminur, leader of the gang locally known as Aminur Bahini, said RAB-4 captain Lt Colonel Syed Mohammed Nourus Saleh Yousuf, adding that the identities of others were yet to be confirmed.
He said, “The gunfight ensued early in the morning when the bandits of Aminur Bahini opened fire on a team of Rab-6, prompting them to retaliate, in the forest in Koyra upazila area.
Later, the elite force recovered firearms and bullets from the spot.
