4 Gold smugglers held in Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday arrested  four gold smugglers along with 41 gold bars worth Tk 2 crore 11 lakh from Amrakhali border area under Benapole Port Police Station in Jashore.

The arrestees were identified as Anisur Rahman, 24, son of Sowroar Kazi, Reaj Mollah, 22 son of Sahzad Mollah of Khulna district, Sabuj Mredha, 20, son of Abdul Mannan, and Tanveer Hossain, 19, son of Moniruzaman of Faridpur district.

BGB-49 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Salim Reja said, acting on a tip-off, BGB members conducted a drive in Amrakhali area and arrested four gold smugglers with the gold bars.

The gold bars were deposited in the Benapole customs godown.

A case was filed with Benapole Port Police station.
