38 Covid deaths in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered 38 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Friday, taking the total number of deaths to 27,147.

The country recorded 1,901 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,540,110, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.

The death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country, added the release.

The current positivity rate stands at 6.41 percent and the overall positivity rate is16.40 percent.

Among the 38 deceased, 13 were men, and 25 were women. 17 of the deceased were from Dhaka, eight from Khulna, seven from Chattogram, three from Sylhet, two from Rangpur, and one was from Mymensingh.

A total of 29,756 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday.

During this period 2,919 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,497,009 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.2 percent.

As of Friday 4,686,470 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 227,947,138 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
