36 bombs recovered from Uttara

A special squad of plainclothes police recovered 36 bombs from a house at Kamarpara in Uttara area of the city on Friday afternoon. Being informed Bomb Disposal Unit rushed to the spot to defuse the bombs. 

When contacted, a police official said acting on a tip-off the detective branch (DB) police raided the house and recovered 36 unexploded bombs from there at around 4:30 pm. 

According to the police, the bombs were supposed to use during the by-election to constituency-18 in Dhaka. DB Uttara Zone’s deputy commissioner Kazi Shafiqul Alam said, “The bombs were found on the ground floor of a house close to road 13 on Friday afternoon. We recovered the bombs successfully. Our bomb expert team is now working to defuse them and only after then we specify what kind of explosives they are.” 

Officer-in-Charge of Uttara West Police Station Tapan Chandra Saha said, “DB police conducted the rescue operation. Our force is also working there. As far as I know, a few cocktail-like unexploded bombs were found.”
