308,392 govt posts vacant

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain on Monday informed the parliament that over  308,392  government posts are vacant in different ministries and divisions. In reply to a query raised by treasury bench lawmaker Anwarul Azim, the minister told the parliament about the vacant posts.
He also informed the House that the government has taken initiatives to fill up the vacant posts.

He also said the government appointed 100 judges and 876 assistant judges in the last ten tears. According to public administration ministry sources, Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has recommended for appointment of 1,289 posts from different cadres through 37th BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service).

Earlier the government requested agencies concerned to verify pre-service curriculum of the recommended candidates. In addition to this, the appointment process of 8,719 vacant posts of different ministries are now underway through the 38, 39 and 40th BCS, he said, adding that 2,024 vacant posts through 38th BCS, 4,792 through 39th and 1,902 through 40th BCS will be filled.

The management department of the public administration ministry usually approves the creation of the new posts as per the demand of all ministries/divisions.
