300 meritorious students honoured in Jhenidah

Saidul Karim Mintu, mayor of Jhenidah municipality and general secretary of Jhenidah district unit of Awami League, has given a reception to 300 meritorious students on Monday. The reception programme was held at Dr. K Ahmed Poura Community Centre. The function was presided over by the municipality mayor, where the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jhenidah Saroj Kumar Nath attended as the chief guest. 

Superintendent of Police (SP) Hasanuzzaman, Principal of Government Nurunnahar Women’s College Maniurul Alam, t District Education Officer Sushanta Kumar Deb, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Jheniah Sadar Shammi Islam and BRAC University teacher and architect Kabir Hossain were present as special guests. President of Kathan Sangskritik Sangsdad (Kasas) Umme Salma Joya and its secretary Protap Aditya Biswas among others spoke at the event.

The speakers urged the recipients to build themselves as good citizens to serve the nation when the government has been trying utmost to make the country a developed one, cooperating with other countries. They gave emphasis on modern technology including information and communication technology which are the tools of development of the modern world.

Earlier a colourful rally was organized, where thousands of students, cultural activists, civil society members participated and paraded the town in the morning chanting slogans. The organisers honoured 300 meritorious students who from different educational institutions in Jhenidah Sadar upazila performed glorious results in secondary and higher secondary examinations this year.
