3 UP members suspended over relief scam

The Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry has suspended three other Union Parishad (UP) members over irregularities in relief distribution. The ministry issued separate notifications in this regard on Monday, reports UNB. 

The suspended are UP members are Abdur Razzak Sheikh of Ward No. 5 ward of Aliabad Union Parisahd in Faridpur Sadar upazila, Kulsum Begum, women UP member of Ward No No 7, 8 and 9 of Polashbari Union Parishad in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon district and Nilufa Khatun, (reserved seat) of No 4, 5 and 6 ward of Char Islampur Union Parishad in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district.

So far, 59 public representatives have been suspended for plundering relief materials during the pandemic. Of them, 20 are UP chairmen, 36 UP members, one Zila Parishad member and two municipality councillors.
