3 held over girl ‘gang-rape’ in Chattogram

Police arrested three youths in Patiya upazila over the alleged gang-rape of a girl on Tuesday night.

The arrestees are Hasan, 20, son of Fajal Ahmed, Mohammad Masud, 20, son of Idris, and Mohammad Osman, 28, son of Ledu Ahmed of Banigram village under Kolagaon union. All of them are drivers in profession.

Three other accused Monjur Alam, Mohammad Sumon and Mohammad Erfan remained on the run. Officer-In-Charge of Patiya Police Station, Borhan Uddin said chairman of Kolagaon union parishad Ahmad Noor tactfully brought the three alleged rapists to this house and informed police after the victims’ mother lodged a complaint on Monday.

Later, police rushed in and arrested them, he said. According to locals and police, the girl was abducted by a group of miscreants around 10pm on November 7 while returning home by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw after visiting a shrine at Banigram.

The culprits took her to a jungle and violated her in turns.
