3 detained over beef adulteration in city

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained three persons for mixing color into beef and selling buffalo meat claiming beef at New Market of the capital on Monday.

Executive magistrate of RAB Headquarters Sarwar Alom fined two shops Taka 40,000 and seized 6 tons of meat).

Sarwar Alom said that meat turned pale because it was preserved in refrigerator for long. Dishonest businessmen mixed color to make it appear fresh.

Besides, buffalo meat, imported from India, was being sold as beef, Sarwar Alom also said.
