The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion on Monday arrested three members of a youth group wanted in connection with a murder.

Rab sources believe that the youth, indulging in drug addiction, often resorted to kill their victims while scuffling to mug or snatch away purses simply for the sake of buying drugs.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post, RAB Media and Legal Wing Deputy Director Major Raisul Azam confirmed the arrests.

Earlier on June 15, deceased Md Shakib Hossain, 20 and his friend Md Shipon Miah, 19 had been to a river side near Batulia area under Uttarkhan Police Station in the capital for a casual visit to enjoy their weekly holiday.

“Suddenly a group of hijackers attacked on their way and attempted to hijack their mobile sets and other valuables,” RAB officials said quoting the eyewitness.

When the victims tried to resist, the muggers stabbed them leaving Shakib dead on the spot. His friend Shipon was also critically injured, the Rab source narrated.

A case was later filed with Uttarkhan Police Station in this connection.
