This year, Durga Puja is going to be held in 410 Puja Mandaps in Sunamganj. This year 24 more Puja Mandaps have increased than that of last year.
According to Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parisad of Sunamganj District Unit, Durga Puja will be celebrated to 45 Puja Mandaps in Zilla sadar, 29 Puja Mandaps in Bishwamvarpur, 29 in Tahirpur, 22 in South Sunamganj, 18 in Doarbazar, 47 in Jamalganj, 57 in Dirayee, 32 in Shallay, 39 in Jogonnathpur, 31 in Modhyonagar, 18 in Dhormopashay.
According to leaders of Zilla Puja Committee, volunteers, security guard, generator and different entrance for men and women will be provided with every Puja mandap.
President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parisad of Sunamganj District Unit Advocate Biman Kanti Roy said making of idols have almost finished in maximum Puja Mandaps.
Chairman of Tahirpur Upazila Parishad Korona Shindhu Chowdhury Babul said to celebrate Sharodiya Durga Puja drugs, teasing and motorcycle running will be strictly controlled by law enforcement department.
However, demand of illegal drugs are rising during the Durga Puja.
Additional Police Super of Sunamganj, Md Mahbubur Rahman said a foolproof security measures have been taken at each Puja Mandap.
A team of police along with Ansars, RAB and community police would be deployed at the temples during the Durga Puja festival, he added.
