2 men beaten to death in N’ganj

Two men were beaten to death by rivals at two separate areas in Narayanganj city.

The deceased were identified as Tofazzal Hossain, 55, son of Solaiman of Khanpur area in the city, and Foysal, 20, son of Nuruzzaman of Choudhuri Bari area in the city. Tofazzal was driver by profession, while Foysal was air conditioner repair mechanic.

Locals and police said that when Tofazzal reached Chashara area with pick up van by soft drinks on Thursday noon, an iron rod shop owner named Shajahan wanted a cold drink bottle. Toffazzal threw a bottle from the pick-up van. As Shajahan failed to catch the bottle it hit another man named Sumon. Being annoyed Sumon beat up Tofazzal with coka-cola bottle. Toffazzal died on the spot.

Another incident took place at Khanpur on Wednesday night. Foysal’s maternal cousin Asif claimed that Foysal had an extra marital affair with a woman at Khanpur and he was tortured there. He was rescued by locals and sent to Khanpur hospital where on duty physician declared him dead.

Shewli Begum, mother of Foysal, said that her son went for work like other days at noon and she was informed at night that her son in Khanpur hospital.

Inspector Joynal Abedin of Narayanganj Sadar model police station confirmed the incidents.
