Two alleged criminals were killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the National Park area in Gazipur city on Sunday night.
The gun battle that took place with a group of criminals also left a member of RAB-1 injured, claimed the RAB. The RAB also claimed that cne foreign pistol, one shooter gun and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
According to RAB-1 sources, the gunfight took place around midnight when a RAB team set up a checkpoint after receiving information that some robbers were panning for a robbery.
While searching through the vehicles, one of them opened fire at the law enforcers, who returned fire in self defence, resulting in a gunfight.
They were rushed to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital where Doctors at the hospital declared them dead, Kamruzzaman, also an assistant superintendent of police added.
