Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 seized 32.40 kgs of smuggled ganja, a truck and arrested two presumed drug traders from the Medical Paschim Gate area in Rangpur metropolis in the early hours of Thursday, reports BSS.
“Acting on a tip off, an operational team of Rangpur Crime Prevention Specialised Company of RAB-13 searched the truck and arrested the drug traders with ganja, truck, mobile phone sets and cash money from the spot,” a press release said on Thursday afternoon.
The arrested persons are Md Manjur Hasan, 54, of village Madhpur Uttarpara in Sadar upazila and Md Faruk Hossain Khondker, 24, of village Sheikh Para (Muladuli) in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna districts.
During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had been involved in trafficking and trading drugs after purchasing those from Panchagarh frontier areas to Rangpur and other parts across the country for a long time. “After filing a case against the arrested drug traders in this connection, the elite force handed over them to Kotwali police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police today,” the release also said.
