2 held for selling fox meat as mutton in B'baria

Khatihata Highway police arrested two people for selling fox meat in the name of mutton in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Monday noon.

At that, time Police seized 20 kg fleshes and 10 kg livers of fox meat from their possessions.

The detainees are identified as Arjat Ali 22, son of Madu Miah, hailed from Morachuri village under Lakhai upazila of Habiganj district and Saddam Hossain 20, son of Sabu Miah hailed from the same area.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khatihata Highway Police Station Mainul Islam said acting on a tip-off, a police team went to Sarail Bishwaroad bus stand area and detained the duo while they were selling out the fox meat in the name of mutton in the area this afternoon.

After collecting the fox meat from one Al-Mezban, a butcher in East-Rampura of capital Dhaka, they supply the meat at different restaurants in Brahmanbaria in the name of mutton.

Later, Executive Magistrate of mobile court Farjana Priyanka sentenced Arjat Ali 6 months’ imprisonment and fined Saddam Hossain Tk5000.
