Around 2.41 lakh users have installed Bangladesh Railway’s app ‘Railsheba’ in their smartphones for purchasing tickets till Monday. Among them, 2.31 lakh 31 thousand were android and 10 thousand were iPhone users, said a press release issued by Ministry of Information Communication technology (ICT) on Monday.

Meanwhile, approximately 1,66,687 tickets have been sold through the app since its inception, the press release added citing Bangladesh Railway sources. This app, jointly developed by ICT ministry and Bangladesh Railway, was launched on April 28 last. Recently, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak jointly inaugurated the app that includes general information, train schedules, seat information of the train as well as purchasing fare of tickets.

Using the app, ordinary passengers in a considerable number bought rail tickets to avoid railway station crowds, the release said, adding authorities are expecting that highly-demanded tickets from now will not be blacked anymore as tickets purchased through the app, mobile phone number, national identity card number, age, gender, name and address of the user would automatically get stored in the server. Besides, the user’s information would also be written on the e-ticket.

“So, it would not be possible for the black-marketers to sell the tickets in like the tickets sold at counter,” hoped ICT ministry in the release.
Users can buy tickets paying through Master Card, Nexus card, Rocket and bKash. After payment users will be confirmed separately through e-mail and SMS.
