2,200 RCC staffs get Eid gift

Around 2,200 staffs of different sections and divisions of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) were given humanitarian aid and hand sanitizers to make sure their smooth celebration of forthcoming Eid amid the Covid-19 pandemic situation, reports BSS.

Each of them was given a food package containing eight kilograms of rice, one kilogram each of aromatic rice and sugar, one liter of edible oil and 500 grams of vermicelli.

They were also given three facemasks, one hand wash and sanitizer each and two liters disinfectant cleaner to protect them from Covid-19 infection. City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton distributed the support at a simple ceremony held at the city bhaban premises on Thursday.

Earlier, Army Pharma and Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited provided 7,222 liters of disinfectant and cleaner, 5000 bottles of hand wash, 10,000 facemasks and 750 bottles of antiseptic solutions to RCC as donation for distribution among the frontline workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to ensure food security to the jobless and other hardest-hit people amid the present troubled time.

Around 20,000 poor, helpless, distressed and other less-incoming and rootless people will get humanitarian aid to mark the forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr in Rajshahi city.

Mayor Liton said they are extending food assistance and cash support to the jobless and other hard-hit people since the pandemic began continuously.

He urged all other development and volunteer organizations to stand beside the jobless people to reduce their financial hardships being caused by the pandemic.
