2.136kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Customs officials have seized 2.136 kilograms gold and gold made ornaments worth about Taka 1 crore from the possession of seven passengers in separate operation at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital, reports BSS.

Customs officials familiar with the drives said those gold and gold made ornaments were recovered after searching bodies and luggage of seven passengers at the airport on Tuesday. Around 968 grams gold was recovered from two passengers identifying them as Momtaz Begum and Ayesha Begum who arrived at HSIA in a flight from Kolkata, said Sajjad Hossen, Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House.

Other eight pieces of gold bars weighing of 834 grams were also recovered from another five passengers after searching them in different times, he added.
