Cheques of a total of amount of Tk 68 lakh were distributed among the patients of various diseases, including cancer, liver cirrhosis, stroke, paralysis and heart-related problems, in Laxmipur on Wednesday. The district administration and the Department of Social Service (DSS) jointly arranged the distribution ceremony on the premises of Collectorate building in the district town.
Deputy Director of Laxmipur DSS Md Nurul Islam Patwari presided over the function, while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anjan Chandra Pal attended as the chief guest. It was attended, among others, by district Awami League General Secretary Advocate Nuruddin Chowdhury Nayan, Civil Surgeon Dr Md Abdul Gaffer and Sadar Upazila Social Service Officer Mahbubur Rahman.
A total 136 patients received the donation. Each patient get Tk 50,000. The donation was distributed under different programmes of Department of Social Service.
