The 12th annual general meeting (AGM) of Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital at Chandpur was held at the conference room of the hospital on Saturday.
Kamrul Hasan, deputy commissioner of Chandpur district and president of the executive council of the hospital, presided over the meeting. He praised the overall performance of the hospital and appreciated all those associated with the health facility.
Kamrul Hasan expressed satisfaction with the advanced technology-rich medical services offered at the hospital and said it is now one of the leading social service institutions at the national level.
He urged the hospital executive council, doctors, officers and employees to work sincerely to make it one of the best eye hospitals in the region in terms of advanced eye care services.
A special prayer was offered seeking the salvation of the souls of Rotarian Mazharul Haque Bhuiyan, the hospital’s founder, Dr MA Gafoor, founding general secretary, Dr Md AQ Ruhul Amin, general secretary of the executive council, Mostak Haider Chowdhury, advisory council member, Lutfar Rahman, father of Chandpur Municipality Mayor Md Zillur Rahman, and other members, officers and employees who died since the establishment of the hospital.
Kamrul Hasan and other guests present at the event unveiled the annual report 2023 of the hospital.
In his address of welcome, M Masood Bhuiyan, hospital's honorary general secretary, informed all present about the overall activities of the hospital and various projects implemented by the authorities.
He thanked all the specialist doctors, officials and employees of the hospital who are helping him to carry forward the activities of the hospital successfully.
Tamal Kumar Ghosh, member of the executive council, presented the income and expenditure account report for the 2021-22 financial year and the proposed budget for the 2022-23 financial year and they was unanimously approved.
Dr Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, civil surgeon of Chandpur district and vice-president of the executive council of the hospital, and Md Yasir Arafat, additional superintendent of police, gave speeches on the overall activities of the hospital.
Rajat Shubhra Sarkar, deputy director at Chandpur District Social Welfare Office, Md Iqbal Hossain, director of Programs at Orbis International Bangladesh, Mohammad Zahirul Haque, FAVP of Dutch Bangla Bank Foundation, Dr Syeda Badrun Nahar Chowdhury, life member of the hospital, Dr GM Farooq and Sheikh Mohiuddin Russell also spoke at the event.
Md Jahangir Akhand Salim, vice-president of the hospital's executive council, gave the vote of thanks.
