1200 flood victims get relief from AL in Sundarganj

A total of 1200 flood victims of four unions under Sundarganj upazila here got dry food as relief from Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee of Bangladesh Awami League on Sunday, reports BSS.

An inaugural function organized by Bangladesh Awami League, Sundarganj upazila unit, was held at Kasim Bazaar under Kapasia union of the upazila on Sunday afternoon with convener of upazila Awami League ATM Mokbul Hossain Pramanik in the chair.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu Bakar Siddique formally inaugurated the relief distribution activity to 450 flood affected people of the union as the chief guest.

The chief guest said the Bangladesh Awami League stood beside the flood victims of the upazila with relief materials at the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to mitigate the sufferings of the flood hit people.

The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had beside the flood victims and would remain beside them in future; he said adding that the post flood rehabilitation programmes had been taken to recover the losses of the flood victims.

Joint secretary of district Awami League Ranajit Bakshi Surja, joint secretary of district Sechchhasebak League Abdul Latif and local leaders were present on the occasion.

The rest 750 packets of dry food were also distributed to the flood victims of Belka, Horipur and Tarapur union of the upazila on the same day, said upazila parishad chairman and also joint convener of upazila Awami League Ashrafuzzaman Lebu.
