Candidates pass busy hours

Mayoral candidates of Awami League and BNP passed busy hours on Sunday as they electioneered from morning till night.

On the 10th day of election campaign, all the top four mayoral candidates went door to door seeking vote and distributed leaflets besides making a number of pledges as always.

Atiqul pledges to make modern Dhaka 

Awami League nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam started his campaign from Khaza Market of Kalyanpur in the capital for the 10th day.

Atiqul Islam said that if he is elected as a mayor, he would work to build a modern, planned city and take the initiative to free Dhaka from traffic congestion.

He also carried out electioneering at different areas including Kalyanpur, Paikpara, Gabtoli, Golartec, Mazar Road, Darus Salam under DNCC ward no 9, 10 and 11.

 “If I’m elected as the mayor and our leaders are elected as councilors, we will start working to ensure service for the city people. It is our pledge before the city dwellers,” he said while speaking at the campaign.

Taposh assures to fulfill people’s expectation 

Awami League mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Sunday started his election campaign through seeking votes form Motijheel area.

During the campaign Taposh said, “We are getting spontaneous response from the people wherever we are going. We have given the outline of development; the people of Dhaka have accepted the outline that we have given for the development of Dhaka.”

If voted mayor, he promised to fulfil the expectations of the people and take measures to give city dwellers a patient hearing. The AL’s mayoral candidate for the DSCC, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, said he gave directives to his workers and activists to carry out electioneering by maintaining the electoral code of conduct.

Ishraque promises corruption free city corporation

BNP nominated mayoral candidate Ishraque Hossain for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) said that he will free the city corporation from corruption, if elected.

He said this before starting his election campaign for the 10th day from Azampur Bus Stand.

During the campaign he said, “People of all strata are eager to cast votes in favour of sheaf of paddy.  We do not think that there is any guardian of Dhaka city.”

He also said, “Dhaka has become the number one unlivable city in the world for the irregularities and corruption. If I am elected as a mayor I will free the city from corruption. The people of the country want change.”

Earlier, he offered munajat at the grave of Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with BNP general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders and activists of BNP.

Tabith Awal assures presence till last moment

BNP nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Tabith Awal on Sunday started his campaign from Habibullah Bahar College of Santinagar in the capital.

Tabith Awal, termed the January 30 elections as a turning point for the party and called upon the voters to take part in the election without fear.

During his campaign at roadside, Tabith said, “A mass wave has been created in favour of BNP. No conspiracy of the government will be fruitful against this mass people.”
