The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) is going to be held after one and half months today, and 10 projects will be placed.
All development projects of the government are approved by the meeting of the Ecnec.
Although it holds meetings regularly every week, Ecnec has become very irregular since the beginning of this year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the last ECNEC meeting was held on March 16.
Shahidur Rahman, Deputy Chief Information Officer of the Planning Minister's Office, said the ECNEC meeting will be held on Tuesday.
The meeting will start at 10:30 am, he said, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over it.
Sources said that only four ECNEC meetings have been held so far in the last three and a half months of this year.
The first ECNEC was held on January 5. At that meeting, six projects were approved. About a month later, on February 3, the ECNEC approved eight projects.
The ECNEC was then held on 16 February, in which nine projects were approved.
The last ECNEC meeting was held on March 16, in which six projects were approved.
A total of 29 new and revised projects were approved by the four ECNECs this year.
Planning Commission officials said the ECNEC has been held almost every week since the current government came to power through the 11th parliamentary elections.
When the corona infection started in 2020, ECNEC was held irregularly, they said adding that, ECNEC is running regularly again after the infection has subsided, but since the beginning of 2021, ECNEC has been held less.
We have given leave to many of those who work here due to Covid-19, those who work in these fields, and those who do paperwork, they mentioned.
So, the project papers are moving at a slower pace, they said.
