1,000 get free eye treatment in Jhenaidah

Above one thousand patients were provided free of cost eye treatment in a remoter Jheniadah village.

A non-governmental voluntary organization Aftabuddin Foundation organized the programme at Piragati village of Shailkupa upazila where 10 physicians had served to treat the patients.

Aftabuddin Foundation chairman Asduzzaman said they organize eye camp and some other medical camps in the remote villages considering the socio-economic state of the poor and disadvantaged people.

A total of 10 physicians including Dr, Mejbahul Azam, Mehedi Hasan, Arafat Hossain, Niasirul Islam Limon, Rabiul Islam and Ziaur Rahman had provided services to above one thousand patients in the daylong camp.

The patients who went under surgical operation to remove cataract in the eyes, were provided spectacles and drug free of cost. Renowned social worker Alamgir Hossain had supervised the overall activities in the camp. Aftabuddin Foundation has been serving the ailing people and running a number of voluntary activities in the locality since its inception, foundation chairman Asduzzaman said.
