The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) allegedly occupied the personal land violating the court order. The sufferers urged the prime minister to save their home and land from CDA.

Jahurul Islam Chowdhury, brother of Major Retd Latiful Islam Chowdhury, at a press conference at Chattogram Press Club on Saturday morning alleged that the CDA illegally occupied their home (Khatian Number 896) at Loyal Road and land of many others violating the order of High Court.”

He read out the written statement on behalf of the land owners and his family. Land owners Jahurul Hasan Chowdhury, Jahurul Anwar Chowdhury, Faijul Islam, K Sobhan Chowdhury, freedom fighter SM Nurul Amin and their lawyer Advocate Mosharaf Hossain were also present at the press conference, among others.

Jahurul Islam Chowdhury said “The government decided to acquire the land for a road during Pakistan regime in 1962. But, the government rejected the project and the land was not acquired. The land owners never take any money from government. So, there is no question of acquisition of our land. Besides, CDA cannot acquire land as per law.”

He further said that the court has a direction on the ownership of the land which has already violated by CDA. Besides, Chattogram District Administration, the land acquisition authority already submitted report on the ownership of the land. The report mentioned that CDA has no legal ground to occupy the land, he added.

The sufferers urged to the prime minister and land minster and all other authorities concerned to save their land and home from some dishonest officials of CDA.
