The 4th ‘National Development Fair’ begins today across the country, with a view to showcasing the government’s development initiatives and successes in the last decade.
At about 10:00am, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the fair in all districts and upazila headquarters through videoconferencing from her official residence Ganabhaban in the capital.
On Wednesday noon, Dhaka District Deputy Commissioner Abu Saleh Mohammad Ferdous Khan informed this at a press conference held at the Dhaka International Trade Fair ground in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
“The country, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is marching ahead through the development highway. Different under-implementation projects, including Padma Bridge, metro rail, Rooppur Nuclear Power plant, Matarbari Power Plant, Deep Sea Port and Karnaphuli Tunnel will change the country’s future…this fair has been arranged to showcase these development activities,” said Dhaka district deputy commissioner Abu Saleh Mohammad Ferdous Khan.
The Dhaka district administration is going to hold the central fair at the DITF field where 330 stalls of different ministries and organisations will remain open for visitors.
Starting today, the fair will continue till October 6, which will remain open from 10am till 9 pm every day.
Marking the inauguration, a colourful rally will be brought out from the venue around 8:45am.
Besides, 10 special initiatives, taken by the Prime Minister, international recognitions and successes, the Visions 2021 and 2041, Bangabandhu Satellite and all other mega projects, including Padma Bridge and Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant as well as investment prospects will be displayed through the fair.
Three seminars will be held during the three-day long fair.
The seminars include ‘Bangabandhu’s Development Philosophy and Today’s Bangladesh’, scheduled to be held today at 5:00pm at DITF field, ‘Ten Special Initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Sustainable Development Goal’ at 10:00am tomorrow and ‘Educated Nation and Wealthy Country: Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh’ at 10:00am on Saturday.
Prominent artistes of the country will also perform in the concerts on the fair premises on the every fair day.
Besides, another seminar with the participation of foreign diplomats and development partners will be held at the Economic Relations Department (ERD) at noon today.
The Mass Communication Directorate will project the government’s successes among people through its district offices, while Bangladesh Betar will air the government’s development activities.
