A 12-day photography exhibition titled ‘Exodus’ by internationally acclaimed photographer Patrick Brown is going to begin today at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in Dhanmondi of the capital.
UNICEF Bangladesh, in collaboration with AFD, is organising the exhibition. UNICEF Bangladesh Goodwill Ambassador and cricket icon Shakib Al Hasan and UNICEF Bangladesh Representative Edouard Beigbeder will jointly inaugurate the exhibition today at 3:30pm on the gallery premises.
The exhibition will showcase a collection of photographs taken by Patrick Brown during last one year portraying the initial influx, the resilience of the Rohingyas, the host community, emergency mitigation measures and international support to the Rohingya people.
More than a year ago, a startled international community watched a dramatic humanitarian crisis unfold on the north-eastern edge of the Bay of Bengal. In a matter of weeks, hundreds of thousands of desperate and terrorized people — 60 per cent of them children — poured across the border from Myanmar into Bangladesh, bringing with them accounts of the unspeakable violence and brutality that had forced them to flee. UNICEF has been on the ground in southern Bangladesh since the onset of the crisis as part of a coalition of national and international agencies.
The exhibition will remain open to all until December 22 and can be visited according to the following schedule: Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday (9am to 12pm and 5pm to 8pm); closed on Sunday.
