Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s appearances on a television talk-show, and the remarks from the former that drew sharp criticism, forced the BCCI’s CoA to issue a showcause notice to both cricketers on Wednesday, reports Cricbuzz .
The two Indian players made an appearance on the show ‘Koffee with Karan’ where Pandya’s answers to certain questions posed by the host came under criticism, particularly on social media, for being racist and sexist.
“We have sent show cause notices to Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul for their comments. They have been given 24 hours to give an explanation,” chairman of the Committee of Administrators Vinod Rai told PTI.
The Indian all-rounder had earlier taken to Twitter to apologise for his comments, mentioning that he got “carried away with nature of the show”.
“After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect,” Pandya wrote on his Twitter page.
