Jatiya Oikyafront on Thursday submitted a list of 90 top officials in public and police administrations to the Election Commission demanding their immediate withdrawal.
A team of the opposition alliance led by BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal placed the list to the EC.
At the same time, they submitted a total of 13 letters signed by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP secretary general and also spokesperson of Oikyafront, on different issues including irregularities over the election.
In a letter, Fakhrul mentioned some names of senior officials in public administration including the district administrators and EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed. In a separate list, he cited around 70 names of senior police officers (equivalent rank to the police super) and demanded their immediate withdrawal.
After placing the letters, Alal told reporters that the Election Commission has been asked not to deploy any partisan police officers to oversee the election.
He told reporters that the level-playing field has not yet been created ahead of the upcoming general election scheduled for December 30.
“All the elements to keep us away from the election are still existing. The Election Commission has given many directives but none of these have yet been implemented. We want implementation of all its orders,” Alal said.
