Swaraswati Puja, one of the main religious festivals in Bangladesh, was celebrated on Sunday in North South University (NSU). On this occasion, Hindu devotees, especially students, performed prayer recitations on the campus.
According to Hinduism, knowledge and arts Goddess Saraswati, riding on white swans, comes to this world to cater wisdom and music to all.
Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, MP was present as the chief guest in the programme chaired by Treasurer of the University Professor Dr Gour Govinda Goswami.
The main celebration started by placing books and offerings at the feet of the Goddess of music and tune in the pancham tithi of the festival. Later, an arrangement was made to celebrate lighting the mongol pradip along with a cultural programme, prasad distribution and a general discussion.
Among others, M A Hashem, chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU, Professor Atiqul Islam, vice-chancellor of NSU, Professor Dr G U Ahsan, pro vice-chancellor (Designate), NSU and Deans of different faculties were also present in the programme.
