To commemorate National Library Day 2019, a seminar on the theme ‘Gronthagarey Boi Pori, Alokito Manush Gori’ was held on 9 February 2019. The welcome speech was given by Dr Md Zahid Hossain, NSU Librarian. A K M Rezaul Karim, Director, National Book Centre, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Dilip Kumar Saha, Director General, Department of Archives and Library, Bangladesh were present as the special guests during the seminar. Professor Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, Cumilla University was present as the chief guest.
Professor Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury said, “North South University is a self-sufficient institution and one of the future leaders in the education sector of Bangladesh. He also mentioned about increasing students’ creative knowledge through reading more books. Among others, Professor Dr G U Ahsan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (designate) and students, faculty members and administrative officers were present.
North South University (NSU) was established in 1992 by the then Foundation for Promotion of Education and Research (FPER), a charitable, non-profit, non-commercial and non-political organization. The FPER later was renamed as the NSU Foundation and is presently called The North South Foundation for Education and Research. The Foundation is comprised of a group of eminent industrialists, prominent patrons of education, notable philanthropists, widely experienced academics and senior civil servants of the country. Their dedication, tireless efforts, and hard work paved the way for the approval of the establishment of NSU. The mission of North South University is to produce competent graduates in their selected disciplines who will have productive careers or choose to engage in advanced studies.
